Set Yourself On Fire

Sometimes you just need to burn away all the impurities by setting yourself on fire.

Crested Butte, CO

Here is a digital infrared image I took last year in Colorado. It was at the end of the day and the sun was in the perfect position to make the ferns shine through the aspens. Taken with the Leica M8.

Darkness

Hurricane Sandy knocked out the power below 39th street in Manhattan. Where I live was affected. To walk into the darkness from midtown where there was still power was like nothing I have experienced in New York City before. I took this stitched panorama from above Stuyvesant park looking down 2nd Avenue. The buildings on the left with power are medical buildings with back up generators and on the right is the Con Edison building on Union Sq.

Please help in any way you can manage. Although we know have power again in lower Manhattan many places in New York and New Jersey are still severely affected and need our immediate help. Donate

Frank-U-Traxx

The venerable Frank the Welder has been welding for probably more years than I have been alive. He made the bmx inspired Accu-Traxx fork to use on the bikes he used to weld for Yeti Cycles. Now he has re-issued the forks for today's modern bikes. I shot this 29er version while visiting him and Spooky recently.

Spooky Bikes

I recently went to the Spooky Bikes/Frank The Welder headquarters up in Bellows Falls, VT. I was there to talk bikes with Mickey the head of Spooky and shoot some of the great aluminum and steel bikes and components that they produce there. Here are a few of their road and extra large clearance road bikes. I am a big fan of Spooky. They make bikes manufactured out of aluminum and steel tubing sourced from and manufactured in the U.S. Can you say that about your latest bike? It would be one thing if that was all they did, but they have a tendancy to make bikes for winners of some of the biggest races in the world, downhill and cross country.
